The Riverside Company Continues to Build Strong Platform with Latest Add-On to SAFEbuilt

News Release | October 06, 2026

The Riverside Company, a global investment firm focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has invested in Northeast Inspection Consultants (NEIC), a building plan review and inspection agency serving municipal clients across Northeast Pennsylvania. This investment marks the 19th add-on to Riverside’s portfolio company, SAFEbuilt, a national platform that provides outsourced building department services – including plan reviews and inspections – and professional services to local governments.  SAFEbuilt’s comprehensive, mission critical service offering enables safer, more efficient building department operations across the country.

“NEIC is an attractive add-on to SAFEbuilt as it furthers the platform’s commitment to be the leading provider of building department services across the U.S. NEIC and SAFEbuilt are highly complementary offering best-in-class customer service and technical, certified employee bases,” said Riverside Managing Partner Loren Schlachet. “By joining SAFEbuilt, NEIC will provide its customers access to a broader suite of municipal services and be able to leverage SAFEbuilt’s proprietary technology stack to give customers the best, most efficient service experience.”

This is another example of Riverside’s expertise in working with businesses within the Business Services sector. The firm has completed more than 400 platform and add-on investments in this specialization and has a team of global experts dedicated to growing these types of organizations.

“NEIC’s long-term commitment to delivering phenomenal customer service and improving building department efficiency aligns with SAFEbuilt’s customer-first approach.  This acquisition is another milestone on our roadmap to expand further into the Northeastern U.S.,” said SAFEbuilt CEO Chris Giordano.  “We look forward to working with the NEIC team to continue building safer, stronger communities.”

Working on this investment for Riverside with Schlachet were Principal Elizabeth Burke, Vice President Alexander Abramovitz, Associate Reece Quigley and Analyst Grace Denious.
