Our Investment in CauseMatch
Riverside Acceleration Capital (RAC) is proud to announce a recent investment in CauseMatch, a Jerusalem-based company that works to help nonprofits drive more donations through its innovative peer-to-peer fundraising platform.
The platform is based on behavioral science: People are more likely to donate when the request comes from a friend or family member (YouGov, 2019). Or as CauseMatch CEO Joseph Bornstein puts it, “People give to people, not just a cause.”
With CauseMatch, nonprofits can set up online fundraising campaigns and recruit employees, volunteers, and other supporters as fundraising ‘ambassadors,’ who can then tap into their personal networks to amplify a campaign. The campaign organizers can set smart goals, track their ambassadors’ progress, and encourage friendly competition through a gamified leaderboard.
The company provides additional professional services to help their customers make the most of the platform. These include expert coaching for ambassadors and campaign organizers, a library of templates for campaign messaging, and a multi-lingual 24/6 support team.
The results of these peer-to-peer campaigns speak for themselves: On average, CauseMatch campaigns have raised approximately 7x more than traditional online fundraisers ($139,795 vs. $20,875), and the response rate for donation requests increased by as much as 150x (1:4 vs 1:600).
Since its launch in 2017, the largely bootstrapped company has powered campaigns for over 1,000 organizations and has grown its team to 60 across three offices.
CauseMatch came our way through three separate referrers, and we knew right out of the gate that this was a company to watch. We’ve been continually impressed with the team and are excited to partner with them as they further their mission of helping nonprofits grow their donation base through the power of peer-to-peer fundraising.
